Back in 2021, the 8.10 newsletter had just celebrated its first anniversary. I remember Rajlakshmi Chavan, one of the three founding members of the 8.10 newsletter, approached me and offered me a head position in a section which was yet to be launched. This section which was being worked upon was a platform for creators to showcase creativity and art. After persistent planning and efforts, Kathaa-  a story of expressing ideas, a story of creativity, a story celebrating artistic styles and a story of narrating a story, was launched.
Though I’m not very keen about literature and poems, I do have a creative eye for photography, videography, and art.  At the heart of my vision was the belief that creativity thrives when it is nurtured by collaboration and support. By creating an inclusive and supportive environment, contributors felt motivated to explore new horizons in their creative pursuits.
One of the most rewarding aspects of being an editor was the opportunity to discover and showcase hidden gems in the creative community. Every month, I combed through submissions from writers, artists, photographers, and other creators, seeking pieces that resonated with our audience. Unearthing these hidden talents and presenting their work to a broader audience was a gratifying experience.
I encountered my fair share of challenges. Balancing the desire for diverse content with maintaining the section’s identity and quality was a delicate tightrope walk. Some articles and artworks, while commendable, did not always align with the section’s theme or tone. It was essential to provide constructive feedback to contributors while encouraging them to explore other avenues for their creativity. Navigating these challenges allowed me to grow as an editor, mentor, and collaborator.
Connecting the dots, this journey allowed me to immerse myself in the world of art, literature, and innovation and offered a chance to build a vibrant community of like-minded individuals. As I look back on my journey, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of fulfilment and accomplishment. Working and being a part of this family was enthralling and helped me capture different perspectives of creativity! Cheers to more clicking, storytelling and beautiful pieces of art!
