Curriculum
The curriculum has been designed to primarily prepare the students for their professional lives once they graduate. We have several courses which have been designed, such as the Interplay of Economic Theory and Data, Demography and Advanced Analytics using R and Python, that are new in the field of economic education and prepare the student for dealing with real-life problems and understanding what actually happens in the outside world – through experience, and not just through textbooks. The institute also places an emphasis on learning a foreign language, with either French or German to be studied as a part of the course, along with an opportunity to study a semester abroad in either Germany or France, which helps transform them into global citizens. The syllabus has been designed keeping in mind the rigorous demands of the 21st century job market, and to ensure that when the student steps out of the Gokhale Institute, he/she is fully prepared to handle every challenge thrown their way as an economist in today’s world.
With that being said about academics, the Institute ensures that the student isn’t exposed to only the best of academics. A wide range of activities – from podcasts, to newsletters, varieties of internships, clubs and fun parties that even the faculty participate in – ensure that the Gokhale Institute provides a complete experience for the college students who have just started to spread their wings.
