COFFEEECONTALK S1 Ep3
What is COFFEEECONTALK?
COFFEEECONTALK is an interview series which will be posted on GIPE’s undergrad YouTube channel on the last day of every month. It is a part of The 8:10 newsletter’s Econcordia section and thus revolves around Economics, Business, and Finance.
Here’s what’s in store for this episode!
For the third episode of COFEEECONTALK, we’ve decided to mix economics and anime for you. We’ll be talking about policymaking and the rising trend of manga in Indian society
In this episode, Madhura and Himanshu along with Aishwarya and Jaideep have a chat with Prof. Uday Sinha. He is a Visiting Faculty of Macroeconomics at Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics and is also a member of the Faculty Advisory Board of the 8:10 Newsletter.
They first discuss his journey in the academic and corporate world. They then move on to speak about his opinion on various policies and economic sectors. Later begins the discussion of how anime and manga entered his life and his take upon it!
Following are the questions and their timestamps:
- (0.27) Himanshu: What led you into economics and what was the reason you entered the education sector instead of the corporate world?
- (6.55) Madhura: What, in your opinion, are some of the “must-knows” of macro which everyone should be acquainted with? (For instance, GDP is an important tool for understanding the basics of the economy in which you live- and so on.)
- (12.22) Himanshu: Which sector, in your opinion, is the most exciting sector for drafting new policies?
- (15.30) Madhura: If you had a chance to modify any one of the existing policies in India (absolutely any policy)- which one would it be? What changes would you make in that policy and why would you make these changes?
Watch the interview to be a part of this fun and informative session- because hey, it’s policymaking and macro after all!
